No Country For Old Men

I want to see that movie too. Lots of good ones out there. You still must go see Juno. So different and quirky.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. It's an amazing film, and if it doesn't nab the Oscar for best film, I'll eat my hat -- one of those films that stays with you FAR after the credits have rolled. And despite the brutal violence, darkly humourous as well....but then, that's a Coen bros. trademark - Fargo is one of my favourite films ever.

I've managed to catch three of the films nominated for Oscars this year, either at the theatre or on DVD -- There Will Be Blood, NCFOM, and Juno (great little film), and look forward to seeing Michael Clayton when it comes out on DVD next week. Just last night I also watched "Gone Baby Gone" - a dark and sometimes quite disturbing movie, but nonetheless excellent. Kudos to Ben Affleck on a job well done for his first directorial effort.

Can you tell it's been a long winter here in Canada?? ;-)
I'm glad the Coen brothers are around to make such great cinema. I loved Fargo too and I think my all-time favourite movie has to be The Big Lebowski! What did you think of There Will Be Blood? I've seen the shorts but not the film.

Well, I have mixed feelings about TWBB…..I think DDL was mesmerizing in the starring role, although I thought his character slipped dangerously close to caricature, especially during the closing scene. As for the film itself, a tad on the long, slow side, but a unique piece of filmmaking nonetheless. And a bit of trivia – it was filmed in the same location as NCFOM. I’d certainly recommend it, even if only for DDL’s performance, but of the two movies, No Country was far superior, in my opinion.
